Michigan takes drunk driving very seriously. If convicted of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI), you will face up to 93 days in jail, fines of up to $500, up to 45 days of community service, installation of an ignition interlock device, and other penalties. The penalties are even stricter for a second or subsequent offense. As soon as you are able, it is advisable to contact a criminal defense attorney after being arrested for drunk driving.
